"Papa" Hemingway Look-Alike Fish-Off

On Friday the, Conch Republic Seafood Co. docks hosted the "Papa Hemingway Look-Alike Fish Off. This event was a jump-starter to the weekend's celebration that commended Ernest Hemingway and his stay in Key West. The fish off consisted of over fifteen Papa Hemingway look alikes fishing off the dock with traditional "Cuban yo-yos." Crowds gathered around the dock to watch the snowy haired gentlemen fish with nothing other than a mere piece of fine string and a piece of bait attached to it.

Although not much was caught, one Papa Hemingway look alike snagged an angelfish and was praised with cheers and claps. The event was free to watch, and gathered many onlookers from around the area who joined in on the fun by cheering on and encouraging the Hemingways as they tried to reel in a fish. The atmosphere was merry and light, and was often charged with anticipation and sometimes excitement when a look a like reeled in a catch.
